Barbara Hall, Chief Commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission and Staff members gave a workshop to members of the board of directors, staff and volunteers of the Canadian Human Rights International Organization (CHRIO), and Collective Human Rights Defender "Laura Acosta" International Organization (COHURIDELA).  The event was organized by the First Portuguese Canadian Cultural Centre, who requested the Ontario Human Rights Commission this educational workshop on human rights.  Approximately a hundred participants attended this event.

The workshop took into account that the promotion of human rights is the key to a healthy coexistence in a multicultural and multi-ethnic society.

The workshop also explained issues related to the human rights code, its application in defending human rights and its procedure. It also took into consideration the universal declaration of human rights and the charter of rights and freedoms in the Constitution of Canada.
