TORONTO.-The violent developments in Pakistan on Sunday, March 15 are not only extremely regrettable, but do not correspond with the civilized standards of the nations of the planet.
Islamic extremists placed two separate explosive devices at two Christian churches, killing 14 people and wounding nearly 80, during Sunday church services.
The innocent victims, of different Christian denominations, were participating in activities at the nearby Saint John Catholic Church and the Protestant Church of Christ, in Youhanabad, Lahore.
On Wednesday of last week, two people died and four were injured by a suicide bomber when a mosque was attacked in the hills of Islamabad. The Islamic terrorist group Jundullah, which had broke ties with the Taliban, claimed responsibility.
In February, Pakistani Taliban factions had also claimed responsibility for other two attacks in which 20 Shiites Muslims died. These extremists who are also Muslims, claimed to be followers of Islam.
These barbaric acts are a sign that these perpetrators do not have any respect for the right to life and the inherent freedom of human beings, as it is religious freedom.
When analyzing the unpredictable security situation in Pakistan, The Canadian Human Rights International Organization (CHRIO) deplores the deaths of human beings with no links with terrorism from Islamic extremists and condemns these barbaric acts against humanity.
At the same time, CHRIO expresses its full support to the Canadian Human Rights International Organization (CHRIO) mission in Pakistan, led by Gulnar Gill, Executive Director of the mission. Ms. Gill is a woman who has demonstrated great leadership in humanitarian action and defense of the human rights of her people and she is a great example at the international level.
We regret these acts of violence and ask the Pakistani Government to conduct a thorough investigation to find those responsible of these heinous acts, so that they are brought to justice to answer for these human rights violations. At the same time, to provide effective protection to religious minorities, to social and community leaders and defenders of human rights such as Gulnar Gill.
